On the morning of September 11, 2001, Rescue 1 was one of the first companies to reach the World Trade Center. Ralph Geidel's oldest brother Gary, a member of Rescue 1 was lost, and his remains were never identified.  Ralph,  a former FDNY member, rushed to NYC where he spent the next nine months working Rescue & Recovery at Ground Zero with his father, Paul, retired Rescue 1, and youngest brother Mike, active Rescue 1. Well aware Gary would likely never be found, Ralph stayed until the end of Recovery, hoping to help other families. His expertise and tireless work resulted in the recovery of the remains of hundreds of victims.

A year ago, Ralph was diagnosed with a form of throat cancer believed directly attributable to his time at Ground Zero.

Ralph and his wife, Barbara made a selfless decision to help other families in the face of their own grief. They sacrificed much, financially, emotionally and medically. They have endured delays and difficulties in obtaining the medical expertise and financial assistance they need.
The  Volunteers of Ground Zero and the American Red Cross Siskiyou Chapter of Far Northern California are proud to host this fundraiser for Ralph.

Who's Performing

Jane Beller, a New York based actress... my greatest claim to fame is being one of Salvation Army Four: four volunteers who are allegedly the only ones in the history of the Salvation Army to ever be reinstated after being kicked out! The role I've had the greatest honor to play is a Bubble Girl... and I love you all.

Jesse Beller Jesse Beller, jazz piano player, has played with the greats (and the not so greats!) and is pleased to be performing for the greatest guys of all: the FDNY. >From being born 9/11/1925, to studying classical piano, to discovering jazz, playing with big bands, teaching math, being involved in local politics, retiring, volunteering, to still playing jazz... Jesse would like to thank his daughter Jane, a Bubble Girl, for signing him up to entertain for you tonight.

Billy Bingo: Billy became hooked on performing whether it was cracking jokes at the kitchen table at his firehouse located in Jamaica Queens or on stage at the world famous Caroline’s on Broadway. His stand up performance is based on being a NYC Firefighter as well as what goes on in his life at home. He has appeared on Good Morning America, Good Day New York, New York 1 and Comedy Central. Bill is married and lives with his wife Catherine in Suffolk county, Long Island.

Not only a dedicated career firefighter, Ed Sullivan is also a talented actor as well as writer, and has appeared in many off off Broadway shows.

He wrote the one man show " Moving to Brooklyn "and from there he pursued stand up comedy. He's performed in clubs throughout NYC, Long Island, Upstate NY, and California. Ed also appears in numerous FDNY fundraisers

Two weeks before retiring he auditioned for Denis Leary’s new TV show, "Rescue Me" and was selected to play Billy Warren, the rainman smart senior firefighter.

Andrew Macchio , proud member of DSNY for nearly 24 years, sang weekly at the cross at Ground Zero for Sunday Mass and also sang in the Salvation Army tent and St. Paul's.. He was involved in the Ground Zero clean-up for 9 months.
Since the end of the Recovery Andrew has been featured, on various national radio and TV programs.

Ruth Albert Spencer is on the Music Dept. faculties of the City
University of N.Y. and the 92St. Y. She is a recipient of a N.Y. Council on the Humanities grant, enabling her to perform the music of Chopin and lecture on his relationship with George Sand. Her article on the Chopin Preludes will appear in the Nov. issue of Clavier magazine. Ruth was one of many wonderful New Yorkers who volunteered at Ground Zero.

Carlos & Gisele Assi Revollar are internationally known Flamenca artists who have performed around the world. Carlos is known for his classical and Flamenco guitar work, while Gisele has a wide ranging background in Modern Dance  and Ballet, as well as the thrilling Flamenca.

Leah Gray & her sister Marion Fontana were the 2 halves of the singing/comedy duo, Two Chicks and a Casio. They performed in numerous NYC venues as well as toured the West Coast via Jane Magazine. Leah has also worked as an actress in many film and theater projects. She is excited to be participating in such an important event!

Marian has just finished a book for Simon and Schuster that will be published in August, 05. I have been published in the New Yorker, New York Magazine and freelanced for Martha Stewart Magazine. As an actress, well....its been a while, but she’s written four one person shows that have appeared at Centerstage, NY, Playwrights Horizons, Vineyard Theater and All Seasons Theater. I wrote and performed for two years in CEREAL! a live comedy soap opera at One Dream theater and her play "Glove Connection" was produced at the Kingsway Boxing Gym and Snug Harbor Cultural Center. As an activist, she is president of the 9-11 Widows and Victims Family Association that advocates for 9-11 families and firefighters. The 9/11 WVFA is currently the recipient of a grant to open a temporary visitors center next to 10 & 10 firehouse at Ground Zero.....

Steve Alleva is a firefighter from Bayside,Queens. He started doing stand up comedy in 1999, at the 1st. Annual Bravest Night of Comedy, and has performed regularly since .

Plus, adds Alleva:"The guys at work wouldn’t listen to my jokes anymore.I had to find a new audience. Sure, they're tough, but they can only take so much"

I could tell you about Annie Bandes but it would take a very long time. In art, music and writing she has done it all. If you really want to know you can go to
www.brainwashed.com and get the full story from the first time she set foot on stage at the legendary Max’s Kansas City to her latest art show in Williamsburg and La Mama. What you won’t learn about Annie on her web site is the tremendous strength and unselfishness she put to work during the recovery at Ground Zero. It is our honor to know Annie and call her friend- may you all be just as lucky someday.

Bianca Bob (also known simply as " Bob") is a native New Yorker and multiple hat wearer- a writer and performer whose work merges film, video, music and humor. She has written and directed a host of short comedies, documentaries and a gaggle of performance videos, several set to music she composes and performs. Her work has earned several awards, including four American Film Institute / Sony Awards and two student Emmy Awards. Her film and music work has been on television, in festivals and museums across the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and South America.

Several of Bbob's film/video works were created at The Experimental Television Center where she's been a repeat offender in their Artist-In-Residence program for years. A veteran of many bands, Bbob also performs as a solo singer songwriter in NYC, while writing and producing music for others.

Through her production company BBob Films/Just Call Her Bob Music,
Bob writes, directs, and edits music videos, spots and PSAS. She also creates and produces songs, jingles, sound design and custom song works. Bob is currently finishing several new video projects and developing a long form television project. She will release a DVD anthology of her short works in early 2005.

Bbob is proud to have been a Ground Zero volunteer "Gator Girl" and "Bubble Gal" for nine months. She loves her Bubble Gals and Guys, and all the amazing people from this community, and is deeply grateful to them all for being part of the Roadhouse Roundup benefit night.

My name is Mike Murphy, Sport is my nickname. My sister Maureen's first son, Peter, and I are close in age, and after her divorce he and I were raised as brothers. We remained extremely close until September 11, 2001, when Pete , a NYC firefighter was killed in the line of duty, saving lives at the World Trade Center. Pete's death shattered us; for my part, I withdrew from the world, and that included making music. I didn't want to mine my family's heartbreak for the sake of tune-fodder. It was only the urging of my friend Slim at KRS that eventually persuaded me to come to terms with my loss, and that turned out to be my album, "UNCLE .The idea of 'speaking' to Pete enabled me to see this work as something more than meaningless-UNCLE is an album for an audience of one and he'll never hear it. My only guidance was a sense of what he would have appreciated... It would be nice if some of it moved or comforted others, but I can't tell if it will. It's offered as a public prayer - from someone who no longer holds faith or very much hope - to the best friend I'll ever know. You'll hear sorrow, anger, longing and some humor. You won't hear uplift, anthems or politics.
." As for the basic bio crap, I'm married and live in Long Island. I am now interested strictly in savoring the time I have with those I love, avoiding the outside world's chaos as completely as possible, and trying to rediscover some joy in living. My (usually 6 piece) band mostly performs in New York City, and the rest of the time I read and draw comics, currently illustrating macabre tales for the magazine 'Horror Garage', I co-host irregularly scheduled presentations of strange films and videos with Irwin Chusid of radio station WFMU, and contribute the occasional audio/humor piece to his broadcasts. Musically nowadays, I'm involved in collaborations with former Wonder Stuff frontman Miles Hunt and brilliant NYC songwriter David Garland, as well as new work of my own. I enjoy antiques and Indian food, will never drive a car, and figure that's about enough of this.More info on Sport Murphy

Jeannette is currently co-writing and recording her first original album with Rich, which is expected to be complete by spring 2005.

Eren’s ambitions include film, television, theater- her own show on the great white way, her own series, a sitcom or two, a few nominations with acceptance speeches to follow…

Tom Vincent has been doing one thing or another on stage for about 30 years that he is aware of. His band, The Romance Commandos, is a loose association of musicians with an even looser approach to performing. The result has been occasionally delighting and mystifying dozens of fans in the intimate back room at the Goldhawk Lounge in Hoboken for the past couple of years.
In addition, his lack of willpower and vast expanses of free time, made possible by vast expanses of unemployment, conspire to make him available for hosting duties at the uptown stage of the Hoboken Arts And Music Festival along with benefits, parties and whatever else comes up that doesn't pay. Local event organizers continue to ignore good, sound advice to "keep the microphone away from that man" and still call for his services. His uncanny instinct for the inappropriate comment just adds to the fun.
He is very happy to be participating in The Roadhouse Roundup and occasionally writes about himself in the third person.

and More!
