How We Started The 9/11 Widows and Victims’ Families Association (WVFA) was created by family members who lost loved ones and firefighters in 2001 to voice many of the unprecedented needs arising from September 11th. Fighting for the dignified recovery of all our loved ones, we encouraged families to join hands and unite.WVFA distributes information to over 4,400 immediate family members.
Today and Tomorrow Family groups united under the platform of support provided by WVFA to distribute information over web sites, emails and newsletters to over 4,400 immediate family members in 2002 and 2003. Joined in a common goal to share information from the Medical Examiner, resources, ceremonies and the WTC memorial, families have found strength in working together. Today our commitment continues and broadens as needs arise. WVFA is a founding organization of the Coalition of 9/11 Families. The Coalition advocates for our families position on the WTC memorial to appropriately represent September 11th and recognize the importance of preserving the final resting place of our loved ones. WVFA officers serve on the LMDC Family Advisory Council advising on development of the WTC memorial. We are dedicated to ensuring a proper and fitting memorial is built in honor of our loved ones and America. WVFA is embarking to launch a central information page for September 11th family foundations, created in memory of our loved ones. WVFA strives to help these foundations remember and serve the needs of tomorrow.
